Economic Relief and Other Support

Many people are facing financial challenges due to the long period of restrictions and requirements to stay at home to slow the spread of coronavirus. Because of this, several official authorities are making assistance available to individuals and families.

National

  • On 19 March, the Hungarian government announced a number of financial relief measures. These include relief for KATA taxpayers (small business lump sum tax) in affected sectors, rules on paying the rent for properties rented out for a purpose other than housing, exemption to pay taxes in affected sectors, and a moratorium on loan payments.   • If you are a parent who does not speak Hungarian well, and your children are struggling with their school assignments, you can apply for Next Step’s new Online Homework Tutoring programme. A group of enthusiastic volunteers is available to help children manage their schoolwork during these unusual times. To apply, please fill out the application form, which will help the tutors better understand the needs of the children.
